Lesson 12:
Create the Order Acknowledgement
By Daniel Janal
Founder, Great Teleseminars
After people order your teleseminar, they need to see confirmation that the order was accepted. Your credit card processing system will tell them the purchase was approved via a web page, which you will create tomorrow.
Now you need to build trust and transmit information.
Your message can be brief, but it should include this information:
- Thank them for ordering the teleseminar
- Verify the teleseminar information: title, date, time. Here's a great tip: list the starting time by time zone. So if the seminar were at 4 p.m. EST, you would also include 3 p.m. CST, 2 p.m. MST, and 1 p.m. PST. Remember, if something can go wrong, it will. If anyone makes a mistake and calls at the wrong time, they will want their money back! Make it as simple as possible for them to do the right thing and as hard as possible for them to mess up!
- Verify amount of the teleseminar and show them how your company name will appear on their credit card statement so there’s no dispute. They'll know exactly how much they’re being charged, and also the name of the company that will appear on the statement. If you operate under several company names (as I do), this is a very important point because if people don't recognize the company name on their credit card statement they could dispute the charge, which will take time away from your normal tasks.
- You might want to suggest they print this message or write the information on their calendar so they will have it handy.
- If you have an assignment for them to do, explain it here. For example, you might want them to read an article, look at a web page or take a stab at writing a note.
- Another suggested topic is to list the etiquette of the teleseminar. You might have certain procedure that you want to clarify beforehand, such as how people will be allowed to ask a question.
Action Step:
Write the response message and link it to your shopping cart. If you do not have a shopping cart or a way of delivering autoresponder messages, you can simply email it to each person as they sign up for the seminar.
