Lesson 9:
Create Systems for Sales and Administration
By Daniel Janal
Founder, Great Teleseminars
You need to determine how you will accept orders.
The most convenient way is through the Internet because it involves no effort on your part beyond setting up the system. People can sign up for your teleseminar over the Internet at 2 a.m. if they want to and not disturb you.
A small percentage of people are afraid to order online, but that number is getting smaller every day. The overwhelming majority of my orders come over the Internet. However, sometimes people don't feel comfortable ordering online, or they encounter problems with the online ordering system. For those reasons, you need to be prepared to take orders by phone or fax.
Depending on how big your company is, you will have several options. If you have a salesperson or assistant, they can easily answer the phone and accept orders. If you are a one-person company, you can accept the order yourself. Or you might decide to hire a telephone answering service or virtual assistant to accept the orders.
Some people will want to fax an order. Post a simple form on your website that people can print. Tell them to hit the CTRL+P buttons to print a web page. Be sure to post the fax number prominently on the printed form, so they won't lose the number and you won't lose the sale.
Action Step:
- Assess your options for taking orders over the phone.
- Think about how you will manage this process.
- Handle it in-house with existing personnel
- Outsource this service to an outside agency
- Great Teleseminars can handle this activity for you.
